Ernest Paul McNutt, Sr., 96, of Angleton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
He was born near Kenney, Texas in 1915 on March 1 to James and Rosa Luhn McNutt. Paul retired from Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas after 37 years service beginning in Maintenance and retiring as a Safety Director.
As a member of Velasco Masonic Lodge 757 for 69 years, he served as Worshipful Master and in 1957 as District Deputy. During his lifetime as a Mason he performed 200 Masonic Funerals. He received a Life Certificate in 1963 and in 1992 Velasco Lodge 757 presented him Golden Trowel award. He was also a member of Arabia Temple Shrine in Houston. During his 69 year membership he attended 57 of the Masonic Grand Lodge conferences in Waco. Paul was also a member of the Methodist Church of Angleton, Texas.
He is preceded in death by Irene Stern McNutt with whom they had a son, Paul Jr. His parents and his three brothers, Guy L. McNutt, James Nelson McNutt, and Walter Brown McNutt have preceded him.
Paul is survived by his wife, Virginia Baker McNutt, his son E. Paul McNutt, Jr.and his wife Barbara Q McNutt, and their three children. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Ernest P. McNutt, III, his wife Evelyn and their children Reina and Nathaniel, Wesley Q. McNutt, his wife Keri and their children Karter and Maysi and Maureen McNutt Cory and her husband Robert J. Cory and their triplets, Bobby, Iris and Cooper. His two stepdaughters and their children are Belinda F. Matte, Jan F. Sanford and her two children Ashley and Charlie.
The family will receive friends 6:00 -8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, TX.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday April 4, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Angleton.
He will be interred in the Historical Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
