John Buettner, 83, of Lake Jackson, passed away on March 29, 2011. He was born on March 2, 1928, in Peoria, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ernestine Buettner and his sister, Virginia Holmes.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Buettner, of Lake Jackson; two daughters, Mary Buettner of Houston and Ann Buettner Honea and her husband Steve of Weatherford, Texas; three grandsons, Tanner Honea and wife Tracey of Houston, Garrett Honea of Los Angeles, California and Cameron Honea of Dallas.
John graduated from high school at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, Texas. He received his BS and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and a Master's degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M. He was employed by Texas Dow Operations for 39 years. He was an avid reader, gardener, and golfer and loved his family and "Dynamic Dog," Willow.
On Friday, April 1, 2011 a viewing will be held at 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Lakewood Chapel Funeral Home, 98 North Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas. Funeral services, officiated by Father Leo Wleczyk, will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 100 Oak Drive South, Lake Jackson at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 100 Oak Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566; Brazosport Cancer Center, 100 Medical Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas; or IPH Hospice Care, 135 E. Hospital Drive, Angleton, Texas 77515.
