Loyd Porter, 88, of Lake Jackson passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Loyd was born December 12, 1926 in Stroud Oklahoma to Lawrence and Ethel Mae Anderson Porter. Loyd served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Loyd was a Boy Scout Master from 1971 until 1981. He was a member of Chapelwood Methodist Church in Lake Jackson. Loyd worked for Dow Chemical Company from 1961 to 1989.


He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Joe and Troy Allen Porter.


Loyd is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline of Lake Jackson, 2 children: Becky Wharton of Angleton, Kenneth Porter and wife Sherri of Lake Jackson, 3 grandchildren: Scott Wharton, Samantha Porter, and Shelby Porter, and a few nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends 9am until service time at 10am Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Chapelwood Methodist Church in Lake Jackson with Rev. Peter J. Cammarano, Jr. officiating.



Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.



Loyd was a very exceptional person but most of all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He thought the world of his grandchildren. Loyd was kind, patient and never met a stranger. He enjoyed camping with his friends with the Brazos Bend R. V. Club.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that the Bible reveals God's purpose to restore the dead to life by means of a resurrection to a paradise earth, where sickness and death will be no more. Jesus said: ''The hour is coming in which all those in the graves shall hear his voice and come out.'' - John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:1-4. I hope you find some comfort in this promise.

Just saw Loyd in church this past Sunday. I am glad I went down
and shook his hand during our greeting portion of the service. I only hope I can have his fortitude and preservience in my final days.
