William G. (Bill) Gibson, allegedly born in the back of a filling station on July 11, 1931, has gone home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2016 after a short time with cancer.

He loved God and his family, and was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and excellent Shepherd to his family.

Bill was a believer in Jesus Christ and was privileged to worship and serve in many churches and was an active member of the Friends Community Church in Angleton. Active in the Emmaus Community and the Kairos Community, he shared God's grace and love as a volunteer inside and outside of prison walls as well as within other Christian organizations.

He graduated from Dermott Arkansas High School, served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS and a MS in Agricultural Education. Upon graduation he taught at the Imperial Ethiopian College for four years. He then returned to OSU and earned a BS in Agricultural Engineering. He accepted a job with Dow Badische, later BASF, in Freeport, Texas, where he worked until his retirement in 1994.

He was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Edna Gibson; his sister, Edna Bond Gibson; and his first wife, Ruth Gibson.

He leaves behind his wife of twenty-five years, Kay Gibson; his brother, Frank Gibson and wife, Barbara; his brother, Eugene Gibson; his sister, Martha Ann Spoonamore; his daughter, Anna Flake and her husband, Mike; his daughter, Leslie Poole and her husband, Tom; his son, Brian Gibson and his wife, Dawn; his son, Steve Gibson; his daughter, Kim Harper and her husband, Don; his daughter, Dawn Fowler; his daughter, Deborah (Tig) Homyack; his son, Trevor Booth and his wife, Keri; his daughter, Leah Butcher and her husband, Willie; and his daughter, Chris Gibson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-children and great grandchildren.

We are grateful to all of the special friends who have blessed and supported our family. Thank you for holding us up through your prayers and actions.

Services will be at First Presbyterian Church, 102 Yaupon Street in Lake Jackson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.

To all the Gibson family. "Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day In Isreal?' 2 Sam 3:38
Let us reflect on this great warrior of faith and one day, by God's
Immeasurable grace, we trust to see him again, safe in the arms of Jesus.

We are saddened to hear of Bill's passing. It is wonderful Bill and Kay had many years together after each of them lost their first spouse. And to think that both couples were dear friends!!! Please know that we are praying for your family to be comforted and that you will be able to dwell on the good times you shared and the happy memories that will never fade. Bill is at home with his Lord.

I have known Bill for over 50 years. The first time I met him he was smiling and the last time I saw him he was smiling. That was Bill. Bill was one of the best listeners I have ever known. He was one of the few "front office" people that would come down into the plant early in the morning and see how we were doing. Godspeed Bill we will miss you.

Bill was the spiritual father to so many, many people in this community. I'm so grateful for his life and the shepherding he and Kay did together. I'm also grateful that this is a "See you later!" not a "Goodbye". Prayers for your sweet family as you learn to live with the void of his passing.
