An Angel gained her wings on November 24, 2017, when Juanita Paulina (Thornton) Edgar, 85, of Lake Jackson left her pain and suffering behind, after her battle with leukemia. She was born on December 26, 1931 in Houston, TX and reared in Conroe, TX, to William Estes Thornton and Fronie Lee (Loper) Thornton. She married Elvin Edgar, Jr., February 22, 1949 in Cleveland, TX and relocated to Lake Jackson, TX in 1950, she was a loyal and devoted wife for 68 years. She worked in administration for BISD, Dow and Sweeny Hospitals, Greater Credit Bureau of Brazoria County and American Savings & Loan. She was a dedicated and committed mother for 66 years to her children Diana, David and Michael. She was a passionate animal lover and horse enthusiast, loving and faithful to the many different breeds that passed through her life, an avid gardener, horticulturist, and floral lover. She loved to plant a seed and watch it grow, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A beautiful soul, kind of heart, and devout Christian Lady. A sharp of mind, strong-willed, and determined woman, mechanically inclined; able to repair most major appliances, automobiles, cell phones and computers without having to read the instructions. Juanita was good judge of character, a trusted and loving confidant to her many friends and family, throughout her life. She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband: Elvin Edgar, Jr.; children: Diana Lynn (Edgar) Rogers; William David Edgar; Daughter-In-Law; Janet (Scott) Edgar; grandchildren: Coby Clayton Rogers; Jennifer Nicole Edgar; Elizabeth Ashley (Edgar) Williams; great-grandchildren: Clay Jason Rogers; Gabriella Nicole Williams; Ava Ashley Williams; Sloane Sadie Ripple; Preston Luke Williams; nieces: Linda (Thornton) Larson; Mary (Simonton) McCamey; Joan (Simonton) Barnes; Taina (Hill) Blanton. Extended Family: Darrell Docking, Charles R., Anita Rogers, Vivian & Willie Tomlinson, James & Patsy (Edgar) Brown and last but not least her fur baby, Molly; her companion pug. She is preceded by, son: Michael Dean Edgar; sister: Ruby Ann (Thornton) Simonton, and brothers: Roy Estes Thornton, and Roland Lafayette Thornton; niece: Patricia Lee (Simonton) Hill; parents: William Estes Thornton and Fronie Lee (Loper) Thornton. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 5th, 2017; 6:00pm at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson, TX 77566. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
