To this day friends and family members will reference her service to the Dairy Queen. She taught all her daughters the meaning of hard work and service to a company by starting them out under her management at the Freeport Dairy Queen. The product had to be right, delivered with a smile, and never could an ice cream cone go out the window unless the famous Dairy Queen curl was on top! After retirement from the Dairy Queen, Tessie continued working in the community at the Freeport Football games concession stand and volunteering to sew care bears for hospitalized children at Brazosport Memorial Hospital. She loved her Lord and was an active member of the Freeport Church of Christ for many years. She accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age and was baptized. She loved family gatherings and seeing everyone have a great time together. She liked board games and cards, but her favorite game was "42" played with domino's. She was always quite the competitor!
