Carolyn Gray Pruett

Carolyn Pessarra Pruett was born Dec. 2, 1933, to parents Lloyd Pessarra and Tera Gray Pessarra, a pioneering family from early Freeport. She grew up in Jones Creek and attended Brazosport High School, then went to college at Baylor University and the University of Houston, majoring in music and art. She met her husband Dr. Thomas William Pruett, and they were soon married in Freeport in 1960. They had two children: Tamara Tomlyn Closs (deceased) in 1961 and Thomas Lloyd Pruett in 1963. Carolyn had five grandchildren: Thomas James Closs, Taylor William Closs, Tristan Closs Cox, Heather Pruett West and Hayley Pruett. She had three great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to His Love Christian Counseling Services or the Rotary Foundation.
