Fred Lindsay Waller

Fred Lindsay Waller, also known as "Big Daddy" by the kids, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9, 2014 at Autumn Leaves--Cypress wood in Spring, Texas where he was a resident for 97 days. He was born February 24, 1926 in Winona, Mississippi. He moved to Texas to go to work for Dow Chemical Company, where he met and married his wife, Laverne. He and his wife moved from Lake Jackson to Houston in 2005 to be near family.


He is survived by his wife Laverne, his daughter, Darlene Taylor (James), his grandchildren Lisa Albrecht (Scott), John Taylor, two great grandchildren Taylor Albrecht and Lindsay Taylor, a nephew, Dr. Jeffrey Roberg (Ann) and a niece Patricia Scanlan (Tim).


He was preceded in death by his father Carey Street Waller and mother Myrtle Lindsay Waller, three sisters Theresa Waller, Elizabeth Waller and Beatrice Roberg (Wayne), brother Carey S. Waller, Jr., and nephew Michael Roberg.


He was a World War II veteran and served in the navy. He attended Mississippi State University and was a big fan of the football team, the Bull Dogs. He retired in 1984 from Dow Chemical Company and enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, and watching sports games, especially the Bull Dogs.


The services will be conducted by Reverend Barry Wilson at Lakewood Funeral Chapel Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 10:30, and visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30. Pallbearers will be James Taylor, John Taylor, Scott Albrecht, Marvin Wallace, Jay Wilson and James Bowman.


Fred will be greatly missed by family and friends.
