Louis Augustus Williams
11/19/1935 - 11/25/2015

Capt. Louis Augustus Williams, 80, of Lake Jackson, Texas sailed his last sea on November 25, 2015. Passing away at his home surrounded by family.

Louis was born on November 19, 1935 in Port Arthur, TX. to Felix Augustus and Corallia Violet (Dees) Williams. After the passing of his mother at the age of 2 years old, his father married Ila Bernadine Goodson in 1940.

After Louis' father remarried, he spent many of his younger years in his father's home town of Happy Jack, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. At the age of 18 years, Louis joined the United Sates Army from 1953 1957 and obtained his high school diploma during this time. After serving our county, Louis joined the tightknit group of shrimpers along the Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coast. Knowing that shrimping was a hard life, he began attending classes for a Harbor Pilot later hiring on at Jackson/Tidewater Marine as a Captain and traveling all over the world. He worked hard to better himself and joined the U.S. Merchant Marines and became a Master of Steam and Motor Vessels. Louis retired from the seaman's life at the age of 70 years in 2005. He then devoted his time to his family and being a pawpaw to his 12 grandchildren. Never one to be idle, he created master pieces out of wood and only limited them to family members. He took great pride in his landscaping, plants, and trees.

At the age of 50, he married Rose Marie Kleri on July 20, 1985, despite the knowledge of gaining 5 stepchildren. He loved every minute of being Pawpaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved their Pawpaw and will miss him dearly.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Corallia Williams and stepmother, Ila Bernadine "Boots" (Goodson) Broussard. His brother, Felix Eugene "Bullet" Williams and granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Meyers.

Louis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rose Marie Williams, of Lake Jackson, TX, his son; Charles Louis "Coon" Williams, of Clute, TX. Stepson; Matthew Grimes, of Lake Jackson, TX. Stepdaughters; Terri (Robert) Willis, Marie (Ralph) Meyers, Michelle (Alan) Mikulencak, and Barbara (Quint) Stevens, all of Lake Jackson, TX.
