Lockie Vernon Minter passed away at home on May 24th at the age of 78. Born on July 19th, 1937 in the Grimes County area she moved to the Brazosport area in the 1950's. She and her husband, Charlie owned and operated CITY TV SERVICE in Freeport and she went on to work at the Lake Jackson Walmart for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Minter Sr., her son, Charlie Minter Jr., her sister Lou Stephens, and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Betty Glover of Sweeny, her son, Tony Lopez and daughter-in-law Misty Scott Lopez of Angleton, her daughter, Angie Shoemaker and son-in-law Mike Shoemaker of Angleton, her daughter, Charlotte Kelly and son-in-law Nathan Kelly of Angleton, her daughter-in-law, Kristi Minter of Richwood, her "adopted daughter," Charlotte Kandler, of Lake Jackson, and her grandchildren: Rowdy Lopez, Deke Lopez, Stefanie Orellana, Breann Ryman, Lori Shoemaker, Tyler MacAllister, Madison Scott, Maycie Lopez, Zane Minter, Judge Kelly, Aisley Kelly, and her great grandchildren: Avaya Soria, Trenton Lopez, Cody Lopez, Ryann Lopez, Blake Lopez, & Miguel Orellana.

Lockie loved her grandbabies and she was the family's encyclopedia on "How to Fix What's Wrong With Your Infant." She had a knack for cooking great food and all of the kids looked forward to her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at her house for many years. She liked to sew and she had a fondness for watching college football. She enjoyed spending time going out with all her girls whether it be to a movie, shopping, or out to eat at one of her favorite restaurants. She taught many of us how to laugh loudly and the laughing sound she made will carry on in her children's and grandchildren's voices for many years to come.

Friends and family will be accepted on Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson.
