Roy Lee Hawley, 82, of Freeport passed away peacefully in his home Friday, November 25, 2016. He was born Jan. 9, 1934 in Chanute, Kansas to Charles William and Zona Viola Toon Hawley. Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Roy worked for Brazos Oil and Gas in Chanute, Kansas and he was transferred to Dow Chemical Co. in 1968. Roy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport, Texas.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Patricia Stone and Janice Garcia.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Hawley of Freeport, 4 children: Tamara Burton of St. Augustine, Florida, Letha Pearson and husband Michael Lieb of Richwood, Texas, Randy Hawley and wife Pam of Lake Jackson, Steve Hawley and wife Ruth of Lake Jackson, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 brothers: Don Hawley of Witchita, Kansas, Bob Hawley and wife Fran of Grove, Oklahoma, John Hawley and wife Becky of Huntsville, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends 5:30pm until 8pm Sunday with a 6pm Rosary with Ramona Ayala officiating at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport with Father Jesse Garcia officiating.

The family requests donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Diabetes Association, or the Charity of your choice.

Roy enjoyed golf and fishing. Most of all he loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
