James (Jim) Robert Bailey (Pawpaw) born Friday, October 13, 1939 peacefully left us to be with his parents, siblings and friends who preceded him in passing on Friday, February 3, 2017. A Colorado native moved to the Brazosport area in 1966 with his bride, Gail Bailey after serving 4 years in the United States Navy. Jim was well known in the community, a Volunteer Fireman, a retired Brazosport College welding professor for 35+ years, a proud supporter of the Brazosport High School Band, a Brazoria County Fair lifetime member, avid hunter and traveler of the USA, Freeport Girls Softball Association coach , and to his grandkids and many more known as Pawpaw. Jim leaves his wife, Gail, children Rita White-Ullom and Kyle Bailey and grandchildren Kenny Bailey, Amber White, Alyssa Bailey, Brandy White, T.J Bailey, Dennis Bailey, Tyler Bailey, Casey White, Robert Bailey, Ashley Bailey and Bryce Bailey as well as 3 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim leaves a legacy of welders for the Brazosport area and beyond, he enjoyed teaching and passing his passion on to his students. Pawpaw instilled a pride in all his children and grandchildren to be the best that they can be. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Brazosport High School Band or Brazosport College.
