Teresa LaNelle Evans Mohler passed away peacefully at the age of 95, on February 14, 2017, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She lived an active life of service to her family, church, and community. LaNelle was born on August 12, 1921, to parents Dedie George and Emma Lee McRoy Evans in Heidenheimer, Texas, the second of six children. She moved to Freeport at age 6 and graduated from Freeport High School in 1940. LaNelle was married to W. H. (Billy) Mohler for 48 years and together they raised two children in Velasco, Texas: Mary Nelle Mohler Brunson and Roddy Mohler. She worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, at the Freeport Station, retiring after 42 years. LaNelle and Billy raised their children in the Velasco Baptist Church where she was an active member. She served her church in many capacities: choir member, pianist and later the organist, treasurer of the committee to purchase an organ, served on numerous church committees, and for over 50 years she was the assistant treasurer in the Sunday School office. In addition to her service to her church, she worked in several fraternal organizations to make a difference in the community. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 50 years. She was also a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge of Texas, serving as Worthy Matron in 1959. LaNelle served as the President of the Department Association of Texas, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant in 1959-1960. She became the Grand Matron of the Grand Ladies Encampment Auxiliary in 1976. Combining her fraternal and religious service, her motto for her year of her service as Grand Matron was Luke 6:31, "Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you." LaNelle was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mohler, her sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Linder Ford, her brother I. H (Buddy) Evans, her brother-in-law Bob Jordan, son-in-law Edward Brunson, and daughter-in-law Barbara Pavlicek Mohler. LaNelle is survived by her sisters Jessie Lee Jordan, Juanita Johnston and her husband Jay, and Nancy Serbanich and her husband Edward. She leaves behind children Mary Nelle Brunson of Nacogdoches and Roddy Mohler of Freeport. LaNelle's grandchildren are Ed Brunson and wife Eleece, Billy Brunson, DeDee Mohler Foshee and husband Mike, and Amy Painter. The great grandchildren are Kody Brunson, Tyler Brunson, Daniella Brunson, Aaron Foshee, Adam Foshee, Timothy Painter, and Austin Delashmit. Also surviving are two great-great grandchildren, Luke Foshee and Kamryn Brunson. The family will receive friends from 9am until 10am Saturday at Lakewood Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10:30am Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Angleton Cemetery. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in LaNelle's memory may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. LaNelle's family would like to extend their gratitude to her longtime caregivers and friends Monica Ford and Tonya Kelley as well as the staff at Meadowview Place in Nacogdoches. Arrangements provided by the Turner Family at Freeport-Lakewood Funeral Home. On line condolences may be made to lakewoodfuneralchapel.com.

My sympathy in the loss of your mother. We just lost our mother on Feb 3 and she also was buried at Angleton Cemetery on Feb 10. I went to Velasco Elem. My brother Harvey was in Roddy's grade. Mother, Ruby Spiller, taught Typing at Brazosport for over 30 years. She was 92. I am sure you feel as I do that it is very hard to lose your Mother.
