Funeral Services for Leo Garza, Jr., 73, of Freeport, TX will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 30, 2017 at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Freeport, TX with Father Jesse Garcia officiating. Interment will be held at Restwood Memorial Park. A rosary will be held Monday, May 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, TX. The family will receive family and friends at Lakewood Funeral Chapel from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017. Leo was born on October 4, 1943 in New Gulf, TX to Leobardo and Carlota Garza. He was raised in Angleton, TX and moved to Freeport in 1963. He was a retired Pipefitter/Job Planner from Dow Chemical. He was a generous man and gave without asking for anything in return. Always striving to be a better man, he became a Master Mason in 1991 and was a member of the Velasco Masonic Lodge #757. He donated his time as a youth baseball coach in Freeport and also served as President of the Freeport Little League. He loved firing up the pit for a barbecue, gardening and working on projects around the house but nothing replaced the time he spent with his grandchildren. Leo is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Garza, sons: James, Patrick (Mary Bel) and Rodney; grandchildren: James, John Michael and Alexis (James); Leah, Thomas and Timothy (Patrick); Kirsten, Tristan and Kamryn (Rodney), as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
