Earl M. Sherman, 90, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 28. He had just spent the prior week visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandson and was in the presence of his loving wife and daughter at the time of his passing. Earl was born on April 19, 1927, in Katy, Texas to parents Andrew Ray Sherman and Susie Perry Sherman. He spent the majority of his young life in San Marcos, Texas; attending both San Marcos High School and Southwest Texas Teachers' College (now Texas State University), majoring in Industrial Arts. He loved the Central Texas area and took his family on many memorable trips to enjoy the rivers of New Braunfels. He was recruited to come to Lake Jackson by the Dow Chemical Company, which led him not only to a career with a company he loved but to the town where he would meet the love of his life, Mirella Cesarini Sherman, to whom he was married for 58 years. He had a passion for cars and displayed this in his daily life while driving around town in his favorite toy, his Jaguar convertible. As somebody who was always fashionably dressed, this was nearly the only time you would see him wearing his (Knights of Columbus) ball cap. Pawpaw, as he was known to his grandchildren and great-grandchild, was always happy to teach life lessons. Important ones like "a house is not a home without Bluebell," and even more important lessons like the value of work ethic and giving to others. He was a loyal employee of the Dow Chemical Company for nearly 42 years. Just as importantly, he was an inspiration in his personal life, earning the honor of becoming a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served for over 10 years in the Brazosport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, as well as with numerous other causes in the community. Earl was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Dorothy Grim, Mauvalene Shelton, Ray Sherman, Ermalee Sherman, and Joyce Langkels. He is survived by his wife, Mirella, daughter, Cindy Williams, grandchildren Cullen Williams and wife Lacey, Cody Williams, and Carly Williams, and his great-grandson Jackson. Pallbearers will be Steve Farrar, Mark Farrar, James Cesarini, Chris Melchor, and grandsons Cullen and Cody. The family would like to thank the many family, friends and members of the Catholic Daughters for their support during this time, as well as Dr. Alkesh Amin for his many years of care. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 7 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Msgr. Leo Wleczyk presiding. The visitation and rosary will be from 12:00-1:00, also at St. Michael's. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel.com.
