Tessie Norine Withers (Ansley,) 99 yrs. 7 months of Freeport, Texas passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2018, in Lake Jackson, Texas at the Oak Village Health Care facility. She was born May 15, 1918. The daughter of Albert and Ethelena Ansley. She was raised in Ridge, Texas. Tessie is survived by son Robert Dryman and wife Toni of Freeport, TX; daughter Captola Leland (better known by family and friends as Pete) and husband Cliff of Texarkana, AR; daughter Rhonda Davis and husband Bob of Lake Jackson, TX; and daughter Sheila Noxon and husband Roger of Dripping Springs, TX. She was predeceased by husbands Arthur Dryman and Thomas (T.A.) Withers; son Phillip W. Dryman; daughter-in-law Kay Dryman; grandson Phillip Dryman Jr; daughter JoAnn Roddey; son-in-law Dale Roddey; step daughter Hilda Patton (Withers); son-in-law Marvin L. Patton; and son-in-law Boyd Radelmiller. Tessie is survived by 14 grandchildren Patti Palmer (Patton), Rusty Patton, Bobby Dryman, Doug Dryman, Jackie Sue Riggs (Dryman), Richard (Ricky) Roddey, Brock Roddey, Thomas (Tommy) Radelmiller, Brian Leland, Chase Leland, Rodney Davis, Robyn Jones (Davis), Jake Noxon, and Luke Noxon. 22 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Tessie known as Bett by her siblings is survived by brother Vernice (Buddy) Ansley and wife Pat of Ridge, Texas, sister Mary (Sis) Fling of Evadale, TX, and sister-in-law Hazel Ansley of Tomball, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by brothers Lyda Ansley, Rachel Ansley, Charlie Ansley, Dan Ansley, and Floyd Ansley; and by sisters Alma Withers, and Bernice Swarthout. Tessie was loved by her family and she enjoyed the grandkids. Her grandchildren each had their own special names to call her. Grandma Bett, Grandma, Grandma Dairy Queen, Beach Grandma, More Grandma, and Big Grandma. For 30 years Tessie worked as manager of the Freeport Dairy Queen. To this day friends and family members will reference her service to the Dairy Queen. She taught all her daughters the meaning of hard work and service to a company by starting them out under her management at the Freeport Dairy Queen. The product had to be right, delivered with a smile, and never could an ice cream cone go out the window unless the famous Dairy Queen curl was on top! After retirement from the Dairy Queen, Tessie continued working in the community at the Freeport Football games concession stand and volunteering to sew care bears for hospitalized children at Brazosport Memorial Hospital. She loved her Lord and was an active member of the Freeport Church of Christ for many years. She accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age and was baptized. She loved family gatherings and seeing everyone have a great time together. She liked board games and cards, but her favorite game was "42" played with domino's. She was always quite the competitor! Her funeral service will be at 2 PM, Friday, Jan. 12th at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas officiated by Brother Bob Shirley, with visitation before at 1 PM. Interment will be at the Holly Cemetery in Ridge, TX following the service. The family members wish to thank the staff of Oak Village Health Care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care and attention given to our mom. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation 16441 Space Center Blvd. C-300 Houston, TX 77058.
