Ludie Broussard was born May 5, 1922, in Church Point, La. She went to her heavenly home on February, 15, 2015, at the age of 92. Another member of the "Greatest Generation" has passed leaving a legacy of love of God, love of country, love of family and friends, loyalty, honesty, hard work, and service.

She was predeceased by her husband Cyr Broussard, infant children Ronald and Jacqueline, parents Clarence and Alicia Beaugh, brother Ray Beaugh, and sister Thelma Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pat & Kerry Wayne Hanson, son & daughter-in-law Ira and Janice Broussard, granddaughters Traci Chelette (Stephen) and Monique Lawless, and great-grandchildren Caden & Riley Chelette, Zachry & Nathan Lawless.

Ludie moved with her husband and children to Freeport in 1956. She was fiercely independent and able to live in her home in Freeport for 56 years. She loved being able to mow her grass and tend to her flowers until the age of 88. Her life was dedicated to her children and making her community a better place to live. She volunteered tirelessly in the concession stands during the years her daughter played softball. She also spent many years volunteering with the Freeport Lions Club and in 1971 was recognized "for her distinguished service, loyalty, and devotion to the youth of her community." Ludie was also a past member of VFW Post 8576 Ladies Auxiliary. She felt privileged to have been able to serve the disabled veterans on their annual fishing trips sponsored by the VFW.

In 2012 Ludie moved to Elmcroft of Lake Jackson Senior Living Community and was blessed with a new family. The compassionate care, respect, and love received by our mother during her stay at Elmcroft has been amazing. No words can express how thankful we are for the care provided by Tracy Soileau, George Cantu, Kaylen "K-K" Klehm, Michaela Hernandez, Carolyn Rabourn, Nicole Patrick, Haley Anderson, Celeste Harris, Jamee Saenz, Tonya Green, John Ponzi, and the remainder of the Elmcroft staff.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the wonderful nurses and caregivers Ann Nesbitt, Lizette Martinez, Tamika Broussard, Pastor Thomas Lester and Paula from Altus Hospice. Not only did they provide exceptional care for our mother, they also were very cognizant of the needs of the family during this very difficult time.

In lieu of flowers please remember our American veterans by donating to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256 (woundedwarriorproject.org) or to the charity of your choice.

We are respecting our mother's wishes with a private family memorial to be held at a later date.

Arrangements by Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

We love you, Mama....mow the grass until your heart's content.
