Gloria June Hopkins, 66, of Bastrop, passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 at her residence. The funeral is planned for 10am Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Miss Hopkins was born August 6, 1949 in Fort Scott, Kansas to Short and June Hopkins. She taught school for 20 years in Corpus Christy and then became a nurse at Bastrop Nursing Home for 21 years. There Gloria loved her patients and was always doing special things for them.

She was preceded in death by her father, Short Hopkins.

Survivors include her mother, June Hopkins of Lake Jackson,
brother Speedy Hopkins and his wife Kay of Lake Jackson,
sister Pat Williams and husband Mike of Fredericksburg,
sister, Sue Griffith and husband Donnie of Rosenberg.

Gloria will be remembered as a generous and caring person.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made on behalf of Gloria Hopkins to the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, marked for Renovations.

Gloria and her family lived behind us and we had so much fun playing softball in area behind our houses. Lots of great memories from school and church. So sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Pat and all of Glo's family. Used to carpool to Alvin Community college years ago. Gloria was one of the sweetest and best of people. She will be surely missed.
