John D. Elder, 74, of Lake Jackson peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord, Wednesday, January 17, 2018. He was born Jan. 8, 1944 in Shelbyville, Illinois to Harve and Clara Elder. He served in the U. S. Air force during the Vietnam Conflict. John was a retired air force veteran of 20 years and also retired from B.A.S.F. after 25 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Standard Elder, and his 3 children: Chantelle Elder, Noelle Holmes, Rick Elder, 2 grandchildren: Samuel Holmes and Caroline Holmes, brother, Clark Elder of Illinois, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial donations in the memory of John may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (dav.org/). Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Lakewood Chapel with Alan Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow 2pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at Smith Cemetery near Lampasas. John loved his family, and was deeply proud of his grandchildren.
