Doyle Eugene Lewis, 92 of West Plains, Missouri and formerly of Angleton, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in West Plains, Missouri. He was born Aug. 14, 1923 in Dora, Missouri to Edward Lewis and Audra Luna Lewis.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. Gene retired from Dow Chemical after 34 years of employment. Gene was also a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was married April 8, 1945 to Aline Maltby in Freeport, Texas. ( She preceded him in death Nov. 5, 1997.) He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Geline Lewis, and 3 brothers, Don, Walt, and Euell Lewis.

On June 10, 2002 he married Verneal Hoglen Ball in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and they made their home in West Plains, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Verneal of West Plains, Missouri; son, Steve Lewis and wife Susie of Alpine, Texas; 3 step-children; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren;
1 brother: Byrum Lewis of West Plains, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains, Missouri.

The family will receive friends 10am until service time at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services for Doyle Eugene Lewis will be held 1pm Jan. 20, 2016 at Restwood Cemetery.
