Arlin "Skip" Ray Dohle, 74, of Lake Jackson, passed away on March 18, 2016.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson. Visitation for family will begin at 10 :00 a.m. . The family will receive friends from 11 :00 a.m. to 2 :00 p.m. and the funeral service will be at 2 :00 p.m., officiated by Skip's brother, the Rever e nd Robert Dohle.

Born August 3, 1941, in Steelville, Missouri, to Robert Joseph Dohle and Venita Gertrude (Turnbough) Dohle, Skip was the oldest of ten children. He moved to Freeport, Texas, in 1967, after eight years in the United States Navy. In 1983, he opened Skip's Auto Sales, eventually becoming Auto Arena in Freeport, which he owned for more than 30 years. Ever the avid car collector, he could often be seen driving around town in beautiful classics, including a pink Cadillac convertible and red 1965 Thunderbird.

A devoted husband, he and his wife, Minnie (Pena) Horn, were married for 27 years. They first met and dated in 1967, but as fate would have it, they went their separate ways before reconnecting, rekindling their romance and marrying in 1989. The two had a very active social schedule and spent lots of time with family and friends. He could often be found camping with friends, out dancing with his wife, laughing and cracking jokes and enjoying his classic country music. He will be greatly missed by many and remembered fondly, particularly his Cool Water cologne scent.

He is preceded in death by his mother; father; and sister, Evangeline "Sissy" Dohle Hanson.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Horn, of Lake Jackson; daughters, Linda Gallagher, of Brazoria, Belinda Martindale, of Freeport, Cindy Marin Santos, of Clute, and Sandy Marin Delgado, of Brazoria; brothers, Robert Dohle (Patricia), of Freeport, Mark Dohle, of Atlanta, GA, David Dohle, of Costa Rica, John Dohle, of Alabama, Craig Dohle, of Santa Fe, NM; sisters, Judy Rajotte, of Alabama, Jane O'Driscoll, of Lake Jackson, Georgia Glover (Dean), of Churchill; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are Ken Chaplin, Russell Davis, David Delgado, Larry Green, Harold Dent, Raymond Pena, Roger Preacher, Robin Rape, Tim Seidler and Bill Wall.

Final arrangements by the Turner Family of Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 979-297-6464. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel. com.

Skip was a great man. Lots of fun camping with him through the years. Minnie I know your heart is broken, I can't imagine losing the love of my life. My prayers are that God gives you peace because your life will never be the same without your best friend. But we will all carry a piece of Skip with us.

Dear Georgie and family,
I was very sorry to hear about Skip's passing. I remember him being a really fun loving spirit and very funny! I'm sure he is cracking up mom, pops, and Sissy about now! I will keep your family in my prayers. Take care.

It is so hard to say goodbye to so many dear friends. Skip was one of the best. He always had time to lend an ear and gave good advice. The kind you do not find nowadays, honest and with your best interests at heart. The last time I saw him, he was as sweet as ever. Gave me a complement, then said you know I wouldn't lie to you and, you know what, he wouldn't. Each time we lose a friend or loved one, we lose a piece of our own history. I lost a big chunk of my history and an even bigger friend. God bless all who loved him and God Bless Skip.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Minnie and the rest of Skip's family. Skip was one of a kind. He was quite funny at times, he had a heart of gold and would do anything he could to help someone in need. He loved to dance, he would sit for hours and listen to classic country music and didn't want to be disturbed. He had a kind and gentle soul and had a great love for family and friends (and he had many). He will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace, My Friend. Love you, Minnie ! If ever I can do anything for you , Please don't hesitate to call me.

Uncle Skip, You Will Be sorely Missed By Us All. Before My Dad Ronnie Ray Passed Away he Told Me The Story About The Time He Took You Shrimping With Him And The Boat Sank And Ya'll Had to Break Down The Doors and Foot Paddle Back To Dry Land. He Was Cursing The Powers That Be And You Were Cursing Him The Whole Way Back To Dry Land.... He Loved You Uncle Skip. We All Love You And You Will Be Missed Very Much. And I Thank You For Looking In On My Mom & Making Sure She Had A Car To Drive While My Father Was Away. You Were Sure Enough Set In Your Ways, But Helped Many In The Community. God Bless You & Your Family.
