Carl Clayson Funderburg, of Lake Jackson, died March 30, 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson with the Reverend John Settlemyre officiating.

Interment will be at Restwood Cemetery immediately after the services.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be in Wilson Parlor at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. before the service.

Carl was born on May 2, 1925, in Olney, Texas, to W. Paul and Bessie Funderburg, the last of seven children.

Carl moved to Lake Jackson in 1944, where he lived with his sister, Bettie and her husband, Herb Slater, until he and Mary Harlan were married on June 9, 1947, in Graham, Texas. He worked for Dow Chemical as a welder from July 1944 until December 31, 1980, when he took a disability retirement.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors are his wife, Mary; and four children; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. They are daughter, Becky Dorroh and her son, David Dorroh wife, Marie, and their children, Dahlia, Phineas, and Truman, of England; son, Paul Funderburg and daughter, Kati, of College Station, and sons, Treyton, of Plano and Austin and wife, Sara, of Tyler; son, David Funderburg and wife, Tammy, of Lake Jackson and their children, Jennifer and Michael Bruner, their children, Maegan and Michael Ride, of Houston; Benjamin Hudson and Evette, their son, Andrew, of San Antonio; Lindsay and Michael McKenney, their son, Gavin of Garden City, Kansas, and daughter, Kirsten; Craig and Jamie Stanford, their children, Maddox and Aubrie, of Alvin; Matthew and Candi Funderburg, their children, Kaiden, Xander, Drayvin and Bain, of Richwood; daughter, Laura and Ted Koehler, of Brazoria, their daughter, Tricia Williamson Hughes and her children, Christin, Gavin and Logan, of Angleton. He is also survived by Mary's brother, John and Pat Harlan, of Leander, sister, Nona Mauzy, of Aiken, South Carolina, and sister, Nancy and Don Lightenburger, of Dolores, Colorado.

Mary and Carl enjoyed many driving trips in the United states with these family members as well as cruises to the Caribbean, tour and cruises in Italy and the Greek Islands, and river boat cruise and tours on the Danube and Rhine Rivers. For several years they enjoyed spending the summers with Don and Nancy at the ranch on the Dolores River in Colorado.
