  • Guestbook
Burlon Wayne Williford, 80, of Lake Jackson, Texas died Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born on November 2, 1935, in Ace, Texas. Burlon moved to Lake Jackson in 1943. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1956. A long time employee of Brockman's Department Store, Burlon took personal pride in working hard at any job or task. Someone from the company was quoted as saying Burlon was the best worker Brockman's ever had.

Burlon was a member of First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson. He loved gardening and yard work as well as spending time with family and friends. Because of the way he overcame personal obstacles associated with cerebral palsy, Burlon was an absolute inspiration to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd E. Williford and Elba "Sis" Williford. Burlon is survived by his sister, Janet White, and husband, Bob, of Longview and brother, Floyd Williford, and wife, Sally, of Tyler. In addition, survivors include his nieces, Jeni White Hagle, Laney White Wootten, Katy Williford Thompson, Annie White Cochran and Marcy Williford Rudd along with nephew, Jess White. Burlon was also very proud of his great nieces and nephews including Jude Wootten, Hazel Wooten, Claire Hagle, Titus Wootten, Hudson Cochran and Evangeline Wootten.

The family would like to extend deepest appreciation to many dear friends and neighbors who provided love and assistance to Burlon that enabled him to live independently as he so desired. Some of those include Mark and Kathy Richards, Debs Cofer, Dede Orta and Butch Munnerlyn.

Family Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10th, from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Worship Center at First Baptist Church Lake Jackson. Funeral service will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday, May 11th, at First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at Holly Grove Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

As a neighbor, we always were greeted by Burlon as he enjoyed his almost daily ride on his cart, his little dog always by his side. His smile and friendly wave were a part of him at all times. We will miss his frequent rides!

Dear Ones, as we lift them before the Lord today, I pray as the family gathers to grieve and to plan, that the Lord would give great comfort and peace in Him. And an ability to be honored and blessed by those he loved. "And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." ll Corinthians 12:9

Burlon was one of the sweetest kid, youth and adult I ever knew!
I graduated with him from Brazosport HighSchool, and I don't remember ever seeing him without a smile!
I rejoice that he is in Heaven with a healthy body, speech as clear as a
bell, praising Jesus and with his sweet parents! Burlon, we will be joining you before too long!

I will miss driving by and waving at him when I didn't have time to stop and visit in his driveway. And I will never forget growing up all the places he used to drive me and Floyd too. But we know he is having a great time with all those that went before us. My prayers and thoughts are with all y'all
