Rosa Lee Saenz of Freeport, TX. passed away Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 at the age of 83.

Rosa Lee was born in Gonzales, Texas to Josephine Marie Gatlin and the Reverend J.A. Harvey. The daughter of a Baptist Minister, she called several Texas towns home before settling in Caldwell. She graduated from Caldwell High School and, soon after, married Bennie Kubena, joining with him in the ownership and operation of Kubena's Garage and in raising their 5 children. She and Bennie were married 25 years. She then moved to Freeport where she met the love of her life, Robert Saenz. They loved gardening together and she was extremely proud of winning "Yard of the Month" several times and "The Mayor's Award" for Christmas decorations. She was a talented seamstress and loved arts and crafts. But her greatest joy came from attending Country & Western Dances with Robert every weekend.

Rosa Lee is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Larry Harvey, brother-in-law, Milton Pricer, sisters-in-law, Loni Harvey and Betsey Harvey, son-in-law, Johnny Lindley, and best friend, Ester Bates.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Saenz, sister, Gladys Pricer, brothers, Buster Harvey and Howard Harvey, her children, Sherry Schnapp (Bill), Bennie Ross Kubena (Tamera), Connie Molano, Sandi Jeter (Tommy), Brook Kubena Stevens (Scotty), her beloved niece and great-nephew, Donna Pricer and Donna's son, Shane. She also leaves behind step-children Robert Saenz (Cathy), Mark Saenz (Tina), Lisa Jordon (Charlie), Clemente Saenz (Mechelle), 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 at Second Baptist Church (201 Garland Drive, Lake Jackson).

The family wishes to thank the staff, especially the special Aids and Nurses of The Sweeney House and the AMED Hospice Team for their compassionate care. And, many thanks to her daughter-in-law, Mechelle, for the love, support, and laughter she provided after Rosa Lee's dementia diagnosis.

The Turner Family at Lakewood Funeral Chapel is handling final arrangements.

Rosa Lee is my aunt. I have thought of her often. I had always looked for her and Robert at the Kolache Festival. All those days were very enjoyable. I spent many a summers at their house for summer vacations from school growing up. Lots of fun times. Then as everyone moved away, distance came. Missed them all. Aunt Rosa Lee was a wonderful person to know. She is already missed by so many. Bye Aunt Rosa Lee..........

Words cannot describe my feelings for Rosa Lee. She was very special to me and I enjoyed every minute that I was lucky enough to spend with her. I am so saddened by her death but am happy that her body is strong and she is happy now and has no more pain while standing with her parents at the feet of our Lord! My heartfelt sympathies go out to the whole family. Love, Mechelle
