James (Red) Rodney Cook, 67, of Lake Jackson, Texas, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2016. He peacefully passed away at his home with his wife at his side. He was born April 29, 1949, to Delmer Cook and Nancy Ennis Cook in Fayette County, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul; and three sisters, Charolette, Faye, and Brenda. James is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda R. Cook; one daughter, Michelle F. Cook and husband, Joey Crocker; one son, James M.M. Cook; one grandson, Massey Rae Cook; special great-niece and great-nephews, Alana Crocker, Anthony, Aaron and Andrew Crocker; two wonderful sisters in Fayette, Alabama, Bessie Nell and Genine; and one brother, Wayne, of Winfield, Alabama; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends in Alabama and Texas. He loved to work with his hands on trucks, cars, ranching, making fine cabinets, hunting, fishing, "cracking jokes," laughing, expertly playing the harmonica and listening to Blues music. But most of all, Red was a devoted husband, father, "Pawpaw", and a great friend to many. Red requested that his family cremate him through the Turner family at Lakewood Chapel. The family will scattering his cremated remains in Carbon Hill, Alabama at a later date. A memorial service will be held at The Lighthouse Church, 131 N Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson, TX on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
