Brenda Kay DellaMea, 75, peacefully departed her life for eternity with Jesus on Sunday, December 25, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Brenda was born on March 18, 1941, in Crab Orchard, West Virginia. She was a graduate of West Virginia University studying physical education with a minor in biology. She married Bruno DellaMea in 1962, and relocated to Lake Jackson in 1965, to raise her loving family and to teach. In addition to raising her children, she worked in retail sales. Her priorities in life were Faith, family and a love for all types of food. She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA Our Lady Queen of the Lake Court No. 2364). She loved her Bible Study group and enjoyed 1:1 time with Our Lord at SMLJ's Chapel. She was involved in Girl Scouts as Brownie Leader and for decades taxied her 4 children to countless softball, baseball, soccer, football, tennis, band, cheerleading, dance recitals, practices, games, and church events. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her smile lit up the room. She was selfless, gracious, and kind. She loved Jesus dearly. She was an avid bridge player and partner and enjoyed her bridge clubs for many years. Her hobbies included reading, dancing, listening to music, playing bridge, traveling, and loving on her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Booth. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Ella Booth; loving and devoted children,: Kay Farmer (Stuart), Debbie Massey (Danny), Jennifer DellaMea; and son, Marc DellaMea (Susan); six grandchildren, Samuel Massey, Brock Massey, Sophia Massey, Madison DellaMea, Jack DellaMea and Victoria DellaMea; her sister, Jane Johnson; niece, Susan Wimberly; nephew, Patrick Johnson (Allie); numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. We miss her dearly and know she is with Our Lord. The family would like to thank her LJ Manor friends, SMLJ CDA friends, prayer warriors, and JoAnn Forse (who continued to bring her the Eucharistic Body of Christ)--all for their love, prayers, notes of encouragement, and support during her illness. Special thanks go to all her caregivers at Methodist Hospital Houston, Kindred Hospital, Country Village in Angleton and UTMB Jennie Sealy in Galveston, including specialists Dr. Joseph S. Galati and team, Dr. Dinakar, Dr. Carbajal, Dr. Seelbach, and Dr. Rao. Much gratitude for years of loving care at Houston Methodist and the UTMB staff on 11th floor: Jen, Taylor, Christine, Jerry, Sam, Shoniqua and 8th floor Yan, and our hospice team, who tenderly cared for and supported our mother at the end. The family would also like to thank their spouses and families, friends, and employers. Their flexibility and understanding allowed us to take care of our mother over the past year and continually over the last two months. Funeral arrangements are Visitation, Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 6 p.m. and Vigil Service followed by the Rosary at Lakewood Funeral Chapel at 7 p.m., with Deacon Gary Forse presiding. Funeral Liturgy Mass at St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic Church in Lake Jackson will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. and Rite of Committal, with Msgr. Leo Wleczyk officiating.
