Jarrell Mitchell of Lake Jackson passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Lake Jackson. His parents, Fred and Ida Mitchell, precede him. Jarrell was born in Corsicana, Texas, on January 13, 1924. Lake Jackson became his home in 1946. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clute. Dad loved sports, church, and playing dominoes with his friends at Action S for many years. he loved his family dearly. Surviving family include a daughter Karen Elliott and husband, Kenneth of Lake Jackson; granddaughter, Kendra Watson and husband, Darin; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Weston, Landon of San Marcos; a sister, Doris Mitchell and husband, Bobby of Angleton; and many cousins and nephews. Jarrell and Katherine Mitchell were married June 13, 1946. They were married for 61 years before the passing of his wife. Jarrell came from a large family of eight boys and one sister. Those that precede him in death are J.D. Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Arthor Mitchell, Mack Mitchell, Jeep Mitchell and two infant children. Dad went to work for Dow in 1946 and remained for 37 years, retiring at the age of 57. Jarrell was in the United State Air Force and was tin the 6th Bomb Group. He joined the service when he was 18 and served until he was 22. He was always proud of serving his country and shared many stories and experiences. A special thank you for the wonderful care my dad received at Elmcroft Senior Living and hospices there for their help and support. I want to thank Action S for giving dad many years of enjoyment and friendship that he cherished. Also the love and blessings that he received from First Baptist Church of Clute. A Viewing will be Thursday, April 27th, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Service will be April 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel
