Marvin Ray Meier, 73, of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away on May 31, 2017. Marvin was born in Lyons, TX on July 25, 1943, to Otto and Leona Meier. He graduated from West Columbia High School in 1961, and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In 1968, Marvin began working for Brazoria County Road and Bridge Department and later served at Pct. One Superintendent under Commissioner Dixie Brown. He was also an estimator for Angle-Tex, Angleton Asphalt and CSB Materials. Marvin enjoyed cooking, traveling, and reading mystery novels and books about Texas history, but his favorite pastime was vegetable gardening, tomatoes being his specialty. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leonard Meier, of Brazoria, TX. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gene Massey Meier; and his children, Steve Meier and his wife, Sandi, and Krista Harris and her husband, Scotty. Grandchildren are Anthony and Holly Meier and Macie, Makenlie and Breanne Harris. Other family members are sister-in-law, Melvina Meier; and his four nieces, Cynthia Hopwood (Bill), Susan McCarty, Sharon Ray (Allen), Cathie Heble (Kevin) and their children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the remarkable staff at St. Luke's Hospital and the A-Med Hospice team who took such good care of Marvin. A private memorial service will be held for Marvin at a later date.
