Clarence Joe Filip, age 76, a longtime resident of Lake Jackson, passed away on June 5th. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Marie; and his children, Donna Orr (Brad), Lynn Bowers (Brian), Carlton Filip (Sheri) and Terryl (Kelli) Filip; along with 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and brother, Richard Filip and sister, Dorothy Lolley. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7th from 6 8 pm at St. Michael Catholic Church with a Vigil service starting at 7pm followed by rosary. Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 8 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Lake Jackson with Msgr. Leo Wleczyk officiating, with graveside services at 3 pm at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery in Blessing Texas. In Lieu of Flowers, please make a donation on behalf of St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Michael Catholic Church. Clarence was born October 15th, 1940 in Wharton, Texas and graduated from Wharton High School. Growing up he enjoyed working alongside his father in the family grocery store, "Filip's Grocery" in El Campo. He and his wife moved to Lake Jackson in 1966. He was very active in St. Michael's Church in Lake Jackson and the Knights of Columbus. He was the Grand Knight, District Deputy and a 4th Degree member and was a KC member for 57 years. He was chairman of St. Michael's Church picnic for many years and founded Monday night rosary in 1988, which he led for many years. He and his longtime friend, Art Vandaveer, were in charge of placing pro-life crosses in front of the church for many years. And led many tours to Medjugorje. He enjoyed his large extended family and was always cooking at family gatherings, family reunions and was the life of the party. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. His passion was deer hunting and playing dominos at deer camp. He loved his Houston Astros 'Go Stros'
