Born September 5, 1917 near Mount Pleasant, Texas on a small family farm. She was called to be with Jesus on July 14, 2017. In 1940 she moved to Freeport, Texas, to live with family, where she met her husband Bennie Notgrass. They were married in 1944 and remained together for 50 years until his death in 1995. She had a great and unending love for her family, her church family and numerous friends who were always welcome in her home. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Freeport for 20 years. She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Martin and father Douglas Martin and her brother Raymond Martin, as well as her husband Bennie B. Notgrass. Survived by her daughter and son Jane Denton and Benny Notgrass. Grandchildren Jessie Abbt, Ryan Denton, Savannah Notgrass and Victoria Boykin and Great grandchildren Levi Wayne Abbt, Ellie Rhea Abbt, Virginia Marie Boykin and one baby girl on the way. Her example of unconditional love for her family and friends will forever be an inspiration.

Benny and Janie, indeed your mother was the Genuine article.
How welcoming, caring and unpretentious she was. A great example of a woman who knew what--and WHO was important in life.
