Golda Mae Stankovich, 99, formerly of Clute/Lake Jackson passed away peacefully in The Woodlands, Tx. She was born August 8, 1918 in Bandera, Texas to Lewis Albert Smith and Noma Tillie Jones Smith. Golda was formerly a member of Temple Baptist Church. Golda worked tirelessly in her church, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was G.A. leader, etc. During World War II she was a genuine "Rosie the Riveter" working in the defense industry in San Angelo, Tx. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank Charles Stankovich, five brothers: Amos, Alton, J. D., Earlo, and Graydon Smith, and two sisters: Cleora Aldridge and Maureen Smith. Golda is survived by two children: Mike Stankovich and wife Donna of Georgetown, Texas, Lauren Sue Seamans and husband Jim, of The Woodlands, Tx., three grandchildren: Krista Roznovsky and husband Nicholas, Lance Giessinger, Sheridan Pollard and husband Jason, three great grandchildren: Alex and Tessa Roznovsky and Kate Pollard,
brother, Odis Smith and wife Betty, sister-in-law: Margie Smith, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 9:30am until service time. Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Lakewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Restwood Cemetery.

I wish I could be there for the services. Being in the Air Force for many years and then living in Indiana I could not visit everyone and I truly missed not seeing Uncle Frank and Aunt Golda My mother (Annie Stankovich Kee) often kept me up to date on seeing them occasionally and showed me pictures of them during reunions. I remember Aunt Golda as a very kind and loving person. She was truly a blessing to our entire family. I know she is definitely in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
