Nancy Brown Monical Lawless was born on June 29, 1944 in Panama City, Florida to Clyde Wilburn Brown and Mary Bourne Brown. She died on November 17, 2017 in Sweeny, Texas at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Evans and Mildred Lawless; her infant daughter; her infant son, Cody Evans Lawless; her sister, Rebecca Brown Black; her brother-in-law, Dennis Dietrich; and nephew, John Johnson. Nancy moved to the Brazosport area with her family from Concord, Tennessee in 1953 when her father went to work for Dow Chemical. She attended schools within BISD until 1961. In 1960, she married R. E. "Bobby" Monical and soon became a mother to a son and daughter, John Robert and Mary Jane. Nancy was very active in the Elisabet Ney Elementary PTA, where she was a dedicated volunteer, serving as room mom and assisting with running the school supply store. She also served as a Pink Lady at Brazosport Hospital in Freeport in the late 1970s. After separating from Bobby in 1976, Nancy met and married Larry Eugene Lawless in 1977. She sold furniture at Crawford's Furniture in Richwood and eventually went on to be a police dispatcher for the Lake Jackson, Clute and Freeport police departments. Larry soon began traveling for work, in which Nancy left her profession as dispatcher to join him. During this time, they took residence in the states of Alaska, Oregon, and Louisiana. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Larry Lawless; her son, John Robert Monical (Laurie) of Angleton; her daughter, Mary Jane "Sissy" Monical Barnes (Kevin) of Brazoria; her sisters, Jackie Johnson of Lake Jackson and Linda Dietrich of Richmond; her brother, Clifford Brown (Lynn) of Bellingham, Washington; her brother-in-law, Jim Lawless (Betty) of Flower Mound and her sister-in-law, Juanita Griffin of Houston. "Nanny" is also survived by her grandchildren, Jared Monical (Natasha) of Rosharon, Kristen Monical of Missouri City, Amanda Barnes of Lake Jackson, Jacob Monical of Angleton, Katy and Haley Lowe of Angleton; her great-grandchildren, Lilly Monical and Owen Monical. Surviving niece and nephews are James Johnson of Lake Jackson, Janett Smith of Brazoria, Darron Black of Houston, Michael Black of Beaumont, and Travis and Micah Brown of Sydney, Australia. Nancy was an enthusiastic fan of Coca Cola, with the vanilla flavored cola remaining her all-time favorite. She was given the nickname of "Myrtle Turtle" by Larry and had a vast collection of turtles of all types. She also thoroughly enjoyed shopping on QVC and playing numerous card games with her loved ones. Nancy's family sends endless amounts of gratitude to Care Builders and A Med Hospice for their excellent care and compassion in her final days. Visitation for Nancy Lawless will be on November 22, 2017 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson at 1 p.m. with her service immediately following at 2 p.m., officiated by Mark Monical. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel.com. Nancy (Mom) (Nanny) had the kindest heart ever known, never meeting a stranger. We will miss her always, and will forever be thankful.

To Nancy's family:
We are standing on a shore and watching a sailing ship that is about to pull out. There is our loved one standing on the deck, waving goodbye, calling to us and calling our names. The bell sounds and the ship begins to pull away. We silently watch as the ship goes further away until out of sight. We sigh, "Oh, she's gone."
At that very moment on another shore, a loved one is jumping up and down, laughing, yelling and saying, "Look! She is coming. Look the ship is coming home! There she is!"
The ship is coming home. There is another shore, another dimension in which we have already begun to live. We are filled with the Spirit of our Risen Lord.
As we wave goodbye, know there is always the ones that have gone before Nancy are there to wave hello.
May God Bless each and everyone of you in your time of sorrow.

To all of our friends and family up there in Texas, its been a privilege being Nancy's nephews. Travis and I will never forget traveling back to Texas as kids to spend time with all of the family. I will especially miss the endless card games with such a funny and loving group of sisters who always made us feel special and even let us win once in a while. We are deeply saddened and will miss Nancy very much. We both live down in Australia with our families now and hope to someday come visit you all again. Likewise, you are all always welcome to come throw a shrimp on the BBQ down here in Sydney. Love Micah and Nic,Travis and Kelly, Stirling, Luke and lil Mitch
