Artie Mae Nevill Cobb, born July 30, 1921 to Ross and Lavita Nevill in Iola, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2017 at the age of 96. Artie Mae Nevill and Lester Lee Cobb were married on August 3, 1941, in Madisonville, Texas. After completing his military service with the U.S. Navy in 1945, Artie and Lester moved with their two young children to Velasco, Texas, where he began his career with the Dow Chemical Company. In 1950 they relocated to Lake Jackson where they raised their four children [Billy, Deloris, Elaine and Robert] and were lifetime members of First Baptist Church. Artie retired in 1983 after working 26 years with Brazosport Independent School District in food services, 15 of these years as manager of Elizabet Ney Elementary in Lake Jackson where she made many friends. In 2007 she received her 20-year pin as a volunteer with Brazosport Community Hospital Auxiliary. Artie and Lester enjoyed retirement and traveling with the First Baptist Lake Jackson Keen-Agers. Artie was preceeded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Lester Lee Cobb, in 2008 as well as her parents, Ross and Lavita Nevill, two brothers, Arville and Nolan Nevill, and two sisters, Mary Rogers and Lucille Owens. She is survived by brother Milton Nevill of Marble Falls, four children, son Billy Cobb and wife Diana, son Robert Cobb and wife Tina of Lake Jackson, daughter Deloris [Dee] Warren of Montgomery, and daughter Elaine Farrell and husband Mark of Houston. Artie and Lester have seven grandchildren, Lisa Railey of Montgomery, Laura Jones and Karen Allen of Lake Jackson, Roy Dacke of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mary Neisig of Wild Peach, Lindsey Valdez of Beaumont and Gerry Kohler of Houston. They also have fifteen great grandchildren, Caleb James, Madi and Cody Gartman, Ella Allen, Abigail Bailey, Elizabeth and Nate Neisig, Hudson and Lauren Railey, Ashton, Isabella and Audrey Mae Valdez, and Grace, Joy and Ava Mae Dacke. The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the owners and staff of Genesis Senior Care in Montgomery, Texas for their loving care of our Mother during her stay there. We would also like to thank the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice who helped Mother and all of us during her final days. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Michael Ward who was her doctor, but also her friend and ours. Artie's gentle and kind spirit will be greatly missed by her family, but we are comforted by our Lord's promise that we will be reunited with both our parents for eternity. Until then, we will continue to give praise for their godly influence in our lives. The family of Artie Cobb would be honored to have you join us for services Wednesday, December 20 at First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson, Texas. Visitation: Immediate Family 9:00 to 10:00, Church family and friends 10:00 to 11:00. Service: 11:00

Mrs. Cobb was a wonderful woman. First knew her when I was friends with her son Billy. Later she was a very good friend to my mother.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Cobb. The Cobb's were our neighbors residing around the corner from us. Our family also were members of First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, as pastored by Johnny Beard. The Cobb family was one of the early settlers in the Brazosport area whom settled in LJ after WWII and were one of the founding families during this time.

Such a blessing to have met you. Such a sweet and beautiful lady. Thank you, Miss Artie for the Godly influence you had on Dee. That influence has passed through a generation to Dee. She's done so much to spread the message of redemption, love, and service to others. I know, because I have been the recipient of so much love and sound Biblical advice from her. Now I watch and listen and see your legacy being carried on to your grandchildren and great grandchildren. You've left our earthly home a much better place. Hope to walk with you some day through beautiful trees and in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
