Jogene was born January 4, 1923 in Du Quoin, IL and passed away Monday, November 12, 2018. He served in the Navy during WWII from 1943-1946. He retired from Dow Chemical after 38 years of service. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 564.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandchildren, Casey Ewald and Jordan Ewald.
Survivors include wife, Wilma, the love of her life as well as his; children, Joe (Theresa), Becky Thomas (Steven), and Larry (Linda); grandchildren, Karee Price (Jason), Jared (Crystal), Charlotte Brown (Austin); step-grandchildren, Chad Barker (Lacey), Brad Barker, Shawn Esquivel, Cassie Esquivel; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Gracie, Colton Price, Landyn, Greysen, Daycin, Taytumm Morris, Caden Brown; step great-grandchildren, Emry Cary and Wyatt Barker.
There was never a dull moment with Jogene. He loved life and people. He embraced all that came his way. He was a self-taught painter and woodworker. If you knew him you knew he was very meticulous; if it called for a 2x2 he used a 2x4. No steel screws and all nuts and bolts had to be stainless, brass or monel. In his younger days he was an avid fisherman and he always looked forward to deer season, but wasn't a real serious hunter. He enjoyed the company of his friends more than anything.
He loved kids; when his grandkids or great-grandkids come to visit he really got excited. He will be missed by many.
Jogene will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018
