Ben Spivey, 77, of Lake Jackson, went to be with our Lord on April 25th, 2019. Ben Spivey was born on August 13th, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Parents James and Mary Ellen Spivey. His grandparents were Ben and Mary Grisham of Corpus Christi, Texas and Charles and Pearl Spivey of Laredo, Texas. Ben spent his childhood in Corpus Christi, later leaving to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, Ben began his career at Dow Chemical, staying with the company for an impressive 50 years! Ben was a man of faith, and an active member at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He served many roles in the church, including Deacon, Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, and participant in church mission trips. His involvement in the community included programs such as Bible Study Fellowship, Habitat for Humanity, and Junior Achievement, as well as coaching girls softball teams. When Ben wasn't serving others or happily working at Dow, he was catching redfish in Rockport, floating down the river in New Braunfels, or traveling around the world. Above all, however, he cherished spending time with his family. Ben is survived by his wife of 58 years and the love of his life, Joyce; his two daughters Susan Spivey and Laurie Fowlkes both of Houston; Sisters Mary Beth Emerson of Yoakum, Texas and Janie Pieper of Victoria, Texas; Grandchildren Ben Fowlkes of Houston, Brittany Fowlkes of Dallas and adopted grandson Drew Konetzke of Houston, along with 10 nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 102 Yaupon, Lake Jackson, Texas. The service will be officiated by Reverend Alan Trafford. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the charities that were dear to Ben's heart; Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church - http://www.cepclj.org/, Habitat for Humanity - http://habitatsbc.org/ and Itasca Presbyterian Children's Home - https://www.pchas.org

Words can't describe the character that Ben possessed, so I won't even try.
If you had a team of "Ben Spiveys" there isn't anything that you couldn't do - in fact, we only had one and we accomplished a lot !
I will miss Ben.

PS- Ben, you still owe me a lunch on that last uT-OSU game . . I'll collect in the future.
