On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Cemonia Strother Williams, (lovingly known as Wife, Mother, Granny, Aunt Moncie, Aunt Cemonia, and Friend) passed away into the arms of her precious Savior Jesus Christ while surrounded by her loving husband, Cecil of 64+ years, and precious family members. She was born in Elizabeth, Louisiana, on November 21, 1931. As a young girl, Cemonia accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She wrote in her Bible that she was "saved for eternity in February 1945." Everything she did in life was to honor Him. Her greatest desire was to see every one of her family members accept Jesus, too.

Cemonia graduated from West Columbia High School, was captain of the girls' volleyball and basketball teams, served on the Student Council, and later attended Stephen F. Austin College. She worked for Austin Company, Dow Chemical, Columbia-Brazoria ISD Tax Office, Brazosport College, Clemons Prison System, and again at Brazosport College.

Cecil and Cemonia were married in Brazoria, Texas, on December 4, 1954. They made their first home in Lake Jackson, then Brazoria, then Marksville, Louisiana, and again in Lake Jackson. She and Cecil loved to travel, serve and worship with their church family, attend family get-togethers, and especially visit with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A member of the Tunica-Biloxi Indian Tribe of Louisiana, she was very proud of her heritage and served 17+ years as the Secretary/Treasurer for the tribe. She also served for several years as Enrollment Director.

Cemonia is survived by her husband, Cecil; daughters, Phyllis Dorman (Carl) of Temple, Texas, and Gaylynn Benn (Greg) of Lake Jackson, Texas. She adored her grandchildren, Allison Dorman D'Alfonso (Robert), Derek Benn (Katie), Andrea Dorman Depue (Landon), Courtney Benn Vernor (Shelby); and her nine precious great-grandchildren, Joseph D'Alfonso, Tenley D'Alfonso, Chandler Depue, Colby Vernor, Logan Depue, Aaron Benn, Caleb D'Alfonso, Connor Vernor, and Aubrey Grace Benn. Cemonia is also survived by her sister, Jimmie Reynolds; brother, Glenford Strother; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Babe Strother and Daisy Barbry Strother; and by siblings, Walter Strother, Earby Strother, Cleamon Strother, Allen Strother, and Eleanor Strother Stuckey.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, Lake Jackson, Texas. The service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott McKay officiating. Her final resting place will be at Restwood Cemetery in Lake Jackson.

Pallbearers are Derek Benn, Shelby Vernor, Robert D'Alfonso, Landon Depue, Raymond Strother, and Garrett Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Dorman and Greg Benn.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Willow Church, 200 Willow Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.

"The LORD is my Shepherd. I shall lack nothing. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down, He leads me to well-watered resting-places, He refreshes me. Though I walk in the valley of deep shadow, I fear no harm, for you are with me."
Psalms 23
