Chuck spent his entire life in Clute and Richwood, TX. Chuck is a 1982 Graduate of Brazoswood High School. He immediately attended Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX, graduating in 1983 with a Certificate of Completion for Diesel and Heavy Truck Mechanics. Chuck later went to the Alvin Community College Police Academy, graduating in 1997 with Honors, earning his Texas Peace Officer's License that he currently holds today. In 2007 Chuck graduated from the Alvin Community College with Honors, earning his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Process Technology.
Chuck spent most of his childhood following his Grandpa Jack around and this is where he began his love for dump trucks. Chuck later owned & operated C.D. Pate Trucking for many years. After Chuck graduated from the Police Academy, he began his law enforcement career at the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office where he worked in many positions. Chuck later moved to the Brazoria County Precinct One Constable's Department where he stayed until he began his career at the Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Freeport, TX in 2003. Chuck worked in many positions at Dow and was a Training Coordinator for PDH1 Plant when he passed. Chuck loved his job at Dow and he loved so many of his co-workers who are now close friends and considered family to us. We are completely grateful to Dow for working with Chuck the last two years of his illness and we know that his kids, grandchildren and his job are what kept Chuck motivated to live as long as he lived with his horrible illness.
Chuck began attending Brazos Pointe Fellowship (BPF), Lake Jackson, TX in 2006. Chuck knew immediately this is where he wanted to spend his time serving God. Chuck became a Member of BPF in August, 2008 where shortly after the BPF Safety Team Ministry was formed and Chuck jumped in immediately to help keep the church safe. Chuck later created the BPF Pointe Guard Ministry where he loved to go out with his team and assist widows and disabled persons to assist them with jobs they were no longer able to do.
Chuck's spiritual journey really flourished when he went on his first Mission trip to Bolivia. Chuck didn't just love Bolivia, he loved the people. Chuck said the experience was, "Lifechanging" for him. Chuck went on 5 Mission trips to Bolivia and each one gave him a different perspective on life. Chuck made it known to Cheri & the kids that he would love for them to experience the joy he felt serving the people of Bolivia.
Chuck also loved serving his community and first became City Councilman for Ward D in Clute, TX in 2001. Chuck later became a City Councilman for Ward C in 2016 where he served until his passing. Chuck loved serving the Citizens of Clute and was recognized recently by Clute City Council for his many years of service to the citizens and the City of Clute by dedicating a playground in his honor at Milstid Park in College Park, Clute, TX.
Chuck's main goal in life as a Grandpa was to be the Grandpa to his grandchildren that his Grandpa was to him. Chuck was so proud of his Children and Grandchildren and every experience he had with each of them brought him complete joy. This will be his greatest loss because being a Grandpa was his greatest achievement.
Chuck is smiling down upon us today because one of his greatest wishes was to have all his children, grandchildren and family in church with him, and today his wish came true.
Visitation was held at Brazos Pointe Fellowship Church, 679 SH 332, Lake Jackson, TX on Friday 2/18/2022 from 5pm to 7pm.
