Judith Kathryn "Kathy" Ginn Riley, 64, of Lake Jackson, Texas, unexpectedly passed away in her home on October 9, 2022.

Kathy was born September 19, 1958, to Thad and Kay Ginn in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

At 18 months of age, Kathy and her parents moved to Pasadena, Texas, where they became members of the Southmore Baptist Church. When Kathy was about three years old, she was introduced to her twin siblings, Jodie and Jeff. Kathy was an exceptional big sister. She loved, adored, protected, and cared for her little sister and brother. Kathy was active in her church youth choir and GA's (Girls in Action) and accepted Christ at the age of eight. Kathy loved the Lord with all her heart. As she grew in Christ, Kathy found that she enjoyed public speaking and sought to teach others about Jesus. In 1979, following her calling and working through her church, Kathy traveled to Philadelphia, where she served in the mission field for a year and a half.

While living and working in Pasadena, Kathy was transferred to Lake Jackson. It was here that she met the love of her life, Gerald Riley. Following a whirlwind romance, Kathy and Gerald were married on Kathy's birthday, September 19, 1990. Throughout their marriage of 32 years, Kathy and Gerald were devoted to one another and enjoyed a genuine and mutually playful love. Kathy and Gerald loved to travel and did so at every opportunity. Together Kathy and Gerald discovered the beauty of the Smokey Mountains, which quickly became their favorite place to visit and unwind.

Spending time with Kathy, one quickly learned that she was an incredible cook who could make the best of meals with a down-home southern style. Oh, if we could have just one more, "Kathy's turkey and dressing dinner." She truly loved to cook. And Kathy loved children, especially the time spent with her nieces and nephews, whom she would sometimes refer to as "her kids." Kathy spent her most recent years caring for and teaching young children at The Children's Garden in Lake Jackson. In some ways, Kathy never grew up and is loved for that. She was often silly and had a soft-spoken, quick southern wit that she was not afraid to use. When family girl trips were planned, Kathy was in, and often, she became the topic of smiles, laughs, and sometimes embarrassment for years to come.

Kathy continued all of her days, serving the Lord through love, fellowship, and her church. Kathy held a particular passion for the Emmaus community and, at the time of her passing, was actively preparing and eager to participate in the upcoming Emmaus Walk.

Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Jeff Ginn, her parents, Thad and Kay Ginn of Pasadena, and her loving husband, Gerald Riley.

Kathy is survived by her sister Jodie Stewart and husband Larry, sister-in-law Ginny Wagner and husband Jeff, sister-in-law Bobbie Guilbeaux, aunts Cheryl Cobb and husband Ralph, and Jean Riley. Kathy is also survived by her nephew Jeff Stewart and wife Emily, niece Katy Butler and husband Jason, niece Jessica Douglas, niece Jillian Stewart and husband Brandon; great-nephews Dean, Branson, Thad, and Jensen; and great-nieces Kaegan, Kinsley, Lilli, and Emma.
