Raymond Darrell Raska Sr., 62, of Oyster Creek, passed away at his home on November 23, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born December 29, 1960, in Lake Charles, LA. Big Darrell, as he was so lovingly called, was loved by all who knew him. He was proud to have served as City Councilman in Oyster Creek. He was happiest when fishing, boating, or surfing with friends and family. Big Darrell was larger than life and loved to put smiles on everyone's faces. Whether he was cracking jokes, poking fun, or trying to scare someone, there was never a shortage of laughter when he was in the room. The world was a better place with him in it. He is deeply missed.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Raska and his sister, Rita Reed. He is survived by his mother, Claudia Cooper, siblings Danny Knox, James Raska, David Raska, and Robbie Hamby. Children Darrell Raska Jr. and wife Kristy Raska, Teri Thomas and husband Mark Thomas, and David Raska. Grandchildren Nathan Carey, Peyton Perez, Emma Quintanilla, Alyssa Quintanilla, and Harper Thomas. Great grandchildren Carsyn Carey.
