Rebecca Scott, 99 of Freeport, Texas passed away on December 21, 2023. Born August 21, 1924 in Galveston, Texas, she was a devoted daughter of Dixie Mae (Morgan) and Harry Frederick Twombly, and a loving sister to siblings Dixie, Harry, and Roy. So small at birth, her first cradle was a shoe box lined with cotton. Her Grandmother, Ethel Rhodes came from Houston on the interurban to be her full-time nurse. The family moved to Houston a few years later where Rebecca grew up, graduating from Lamar High School in 1941 (Lamar had only 11 grades). She worked for Houston Lighting and Power before moving to Freeport and working at Dow Chemical. She remained in Freeport most all her life except for a short time attending University of Texas. Married on April 17, 1948 to Vincent LeRoy Scott, whom she met at First Baptist Church, Freeport, they celebrated almost 70 years together before his death in 2017. Although she had a shy nature and a will of steel, she was a nurturer extraordinaire to their four children, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A family weaver who strengthened the relationships with annual Beach Weeks, Mother-Daughter trips and holiday gatherings, she was also a photographer and chronicler of family events. A fabulous cook and ice cream connoisseur, she was even a co-owner of a Bresler's 33 Flavor Ice Cream franchise back in the day. She was also ahead of her time with whole foods, essential oils, vitamins, and exercise. An avid fisherwoman, she was happiest in jeans and cap with a fish on her line. Above all, she was a good and faithful servant of Christ, a student of the Bible, and is now in heaven with God and those loved ones who left the earth before her.
Survivors include Her four children, Naomi Scott, Evelyn Karl, Pauline Singleton, and Morgan Scott, as well as eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded by Her husband, two brothers, a sister, and her parents.

Pauline, Evelyn, Naomi, and Morgan,
So sorry to hear about your Mom passing. It is so hard saying goodbye to them, but there is a peace in knowing that she is now with the Lord. We had the privilege of her coming with Mother and visiting us in Tyler, and what fun that was. Each trip usually involved a fishing trip on Lake Fork or on a private lake, and there was Always fish to clean. She and Mother taught Robin and I to play 42 and we would only win when they let us. I will always believe they had a secret method for winning. (we called it cheating!!)
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Aunt Becky lived a life that was an example to many. She will always be remembered for her kindness and hospitality when we descended on her at the Scott Family Reunions. Although she will be deeply missed, Uncle Vincent must be glad to be reunited with her in heaven.

My heart and prayers are with you and the family during this difficult time. I have such fond memories of our family reunions at the beach with Great Aunt Rebecca and Great Uncle Vincent. Knowing that they are together again in heaven helps ease the tears. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit and love of God will live on through us.
All my love, Alicia Briggs-Simmons
