Jameson Butler Travis, 35, passed away following a brief illness on January 7, 2024. He was born December 16, 1988, in Lake Jackson, Texas, to parents Glenn and Peggy Travis. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Jameson was employed as a foreman with Excel Industrial Services in Freeport, Texas. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Boy Scouts of America Order of the Arrow - scouting's national honor society. He loved being outdoors and in nature. He enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved saltwater kayak fishing and was captain of the High Tides Fishing Team. He also served as a chapter coordinator for the Surfside Texas chapter of Heroes on the Water a non-profit charity that provides no-cost therapeutic kayak fishing experiences to veterans, first-responders, and others. He was gifted with a remarkable talent for woodcarving and produced some amazing walking stick carvings.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Wilma Travis and Jimmie and Dolly Lofton; uncle James Travis; and great-grandmother Flora Lofton.
He is survived by parents Glenn and Peggy Travis; brother Keith Travis; uncle Mickey Travis (Kathy); great-aunt Jo Ann Abernathy; cousins Robin Travis-Boling (John), Patrick Travis (Ashley), Sidney Abernathy (Colleen), Ryan Abernathy (Leeanne), and Jennifer Abernathy.
He was our dearly loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. The family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to special friend Brent Davis for his love and support. A Celebration of Life will be held for Jameson at the Lake Jackson Church of Christ located at 402 Center Way in Lake Jackson Texas at 10:30 a.m. on January 20, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Jameson Travis to Heroes on the Water-Surfside Texas Chapter at heroesonthewater.org if desired.

Met Jameson in art class back in higschool. We didn't like each other at the beginning because he would always wait for me to finish my art project first so he could check it out and then make one better than mine ðŸ˜' competitive much! 😆
Later after we graduated we became best friends. Always doing art projects; he would make his own canvas which I thought was pretty darn cool. I am going to miss you buddy. See you later. But hopefully later later because I got some unfinished business to tend to here on Earth. I should be watching my health as well. Big hugs. Till then. 🪽🎨 ðŸ»

Words are never enough and condolences are hollow at times like these even when heart felt.

I am so sorry for your loss. Part of your scouting family remembers. The Galiley Family
