Ronnie Joe Hock

of Brazoria, TX

August 29, 1957 - September 9, 2024

Surrounded by his loving family, Ronnie J. Ebarb-Hock, 67, of Brazoria, has gone home to his Heavenly Father after a 2 year battle with liver cancer. Ronnie was born in Jackson, MS, to Abram & Jo Ebarb. He spent his boyhood growing up in Zwolle, LA.

Ronnie moved to Beaumont and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1975. He attended Lamar University and graduated with his Bachelors of Science degree in Agricultural Business and Management. During his years in Beaumont, he met Jack & Ann Cunningham. Ronnie quickly became a part of their family where he gained his brother Kenny and sister Melanie.

He later moved to Houston for work and met Hal & Donna Hock. He joined the Hock family and gained brothers James, Larry, and Bruce, and sister Tina.

In 1979, Ronnie moved to Lake Jackson, TX. One evening after work, Ronnie went to eat at Lone Star Steakhouse. It was here that he met the love of his life, Delia. Ronnie & Delia were married in 1985 and would go on to raise 5 children in the area. Ronnie finally got his own family with Delia and was a proud father of 5.

Ronnie worked for Dow Chemical for 45 years. He began as a mechanical technician and ended his career as Gulf Coast Pipeline turnaround coordinator. In his free time, Ronnie enjoyed RV trips with his wife, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and watching his youngest daughter coach high school volleyball and softball. Family meant a lot to Ronnie; he always wanted to be together.

Ronnie was a man of few words, but full of wisdom. His children often sought his advice growing up and well into adulthood. Ronnie was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson, where he was also a Commander in Chief for the Knights of Columbus. Ronnie also loved animals; his daughters referred to him as ''Animal Jesus'' because animals would always find their way to him no matter where they were. Ronnie was an avid Houston fan: Oilers, Rockets, Astros, and Texans. You could catch him watching a game in his recliner, in the barn, or at the Juice Box.

Ronnie was a kind and generous man. He was always willing to help, something he passed down to his children and grandchildren. ''We help others because we never know when we will need it,'' he explained to them. He also spent many years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and helped build many new homes for families in the greater Brazosport area. He helped with the Brazoria County Youth Home's Toy Drive to ensure those kids had a Christmas, which Ronnie held dear to his heart.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Delia. His children, Kristopher Sargent (Skye) of Lake Jackson, Raquel Adamcik (CJ) of Lake Jackson, Marcia Cole (Cody) of Sweeny, Patricia Johnson (Travis) of West Columbia, and Anthony of Brazoria. Ronnie is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Abbigail, Camden, and Garrett Sargent, Gavin and Giana Adamcik, Lane, Cheyenne, and Christian Cole, Jett and Scarlett Johnson, and 1 great-granddaughter, Kaycee Sargent-Perez. He is also survived by his brothers Jeffery Duke (Kathie) of Lake Jackson, John Lloyd Malmay of Zwolle, La., Kenneth Cunningham (Beverly) of Cincinnati, OH, James (Deborah) Mayhair of Groesbeck, and sisters Melanie Cunningham of Dallas, and Tina Gemelli (Chuck) of Evansville, WY.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Abram & Jo Ebarb, Jack & Ann Cunningham, Hal & Donna Hock, and brother Randy Ebarb.

To our family,
We wished we could have been there to say goodbye. We are grateful many family members were there. Uncle Ronnie was a man everyone could admire. We was kind and gentle with strong standards that were unwavering. He was honorable and an all around wonderful human. He was a family man in all meanings. We loved him and looked up to him. He will be greatly missed.
We love you, family. Our hearts are broken with you. You have been blessed to have been raised and loved by this amazing person. Tia Delia, no words can express such a loss of your love and life partner. We grieve with all of you.
All our love, Mike and Martha

I had the pleasure of starting my career working at Dow Pipeline on Ronnie's team. I was new to Texas and fresh out of college. Ronnie took me under his wing and taught me so much. I loved the time I got to spend in the field learning from Ronnie. He was such a kind man and an absolute pleasure to work with. If you knew Ronnie for 10 minutes, you knew he had a huge family that he absolutely adored. To all of Ronnie's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I'm praying for your peace and happy to know he is with our Heavenly Father.
