Mario Guel, Sr., 70, of Angleton, Texas returned to God surrounded by his loving family on the early morning of Friday, November 1, 2024. Mario was born June 21, 1954 to parents, Gilberto Guel and Socorro Mendoza. Mario was a skilled welder and worked for many years at Freeport Welding. He later became a truck driver and traveled the greater U.S. with his wife by his side. He served as the beloved pastor of Iglesia Evangelica Cristiana in Freeport, Texas, for over 25 years. He shared his deep faith and love for the Lord with his family and community. Mario enjoyed working on cars and tractors but loved even more being with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yolanda Guel; and three children: Lorena Cabrera and her husband Miguel, Mario Guel and his wife Marisa, and Mayra Guel and five grandchildren: Oliva and Emily Guel, as well as Isabella, Gabriel and Abigail Cabrera. Brothers and sisters: Esther Guel, Paula Herrera, Hugo Guel, Gilberto Guel, Rhode Almendarez, Hilda Onopa, Rebecca Garza, Ana Isabel Sandoval, Idolina Cornier, Maria Elena Benitez, Leticia Rodriguez.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Gilberto and Socorro Guel, and brother Osiel Guel, Sr.

Mario will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, as his kindness, strength and devotion will remain forever in our hearts.

I only met Mr. Guel once, but I know his son well. He was much loved and respected his by family and, with his wife, created a generational family legacy of faith, love, compassion and service. Praying God's comfort upon you all as you comfort one another in Godly love and shared memories of your dad.
