Richard Eugene Craw was born in Lexington, Michigan on August 17, 1945, to Mryle and Lois Craw. He gained his angel wings at the age of 79 on November 5, 2024. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 1:00pm at New Beginnings Community Church in Lake Jackson. Visitation 11:30 - 1:00.

Richard is survived by wife of 54 years, Alice, son Brett (Jen) and daughter Melissa Stewart (Bart), son Rick Sleeper (Kristin), grandchildren Skylar, Hunter, Haleigh, Darilyn, Harli, Blayne, David and Kathryn, and great-grandchildren Myla and Kason. Brother Kenneth (Madeleine), and half-sisters Kyle, Sharon and Meredith. Sister-in-laws Martha Krause and Betty Stanley.

He was preceded in death by parents Mryle Craw and Lois Craw, in laws Walter and Eleonora Krause, and brother-in-law John Stanley.

Richard grew up in Houston and graduated from Jeff Davis High School Class of 1964. It was his love of dancing and working at Garner State Park during summers that many lifelong friends were made. It was through one of these mutual friends that he met his wife, Alice.

Richard proudly served in the US Army 1969-1971. He did a tour in Vietnam where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Whenever he would see another Vietnam Veteran, he would always talk to them and say, ''welcome home brother.''

When he was discharged from the Army, he and Alice made their home in Freeport then Jones Creek where they raised their children. Richard was always involved in his kids' activities and served as president of the Freeport Jaycees and the Brazosport Rotary Club. He worked in janitorial sales for Vandaveer and Gulf Coast Paper. He was also a co-owner of The Growing Tree, a children's store in Freeport. He then owned ARC Supply in Clute from 1989 - 2013.

He loved to travel, golf, hunt and visit casinos. Richard was very strong in his faith at New Beginnings Church. He enjoyed being a part of the men's group and this brought him great peace in knowing his eternal home was soon.

The family is so appreciative of his leukemia medical staff at M.D. Anderson, the men's group, and members of New Beginnings Church for all the love and support shown toward him and his family during this difficult time.
