Funeral services for Stuart Stein, age 82 of Angleton, Texas will be held at 3:30pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024 The Sheath Israel Cemetery in Wharton, Texas. With Rabbi Dan Gordon officiating.
Stuart was born in Freeport, Texas to his parents Bill and Shirley Stein, February 22, 1942. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1960, attended Lamar University in Beaumont, TX until joining the Army in 1963. After completing his tour with the Army he was hired by Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas where he worked for 35 years in various positions. During that time he also worked for Brazosport College teaching Defensive driving for more than 25 years. He learned to sky dive while in the military and held the Texas record for the highest jump made for several years. While in the Military he was assigned to the photography department and traveled to many sights to record history. Stuart began playing golf in High School, won several awards during his lifetime and enjoyed playing late into life. In 1978, he became a licensed airplane pilot until he was forced to retire due to open heart surgery. He was also very proud of belonging to the Lamar University Alumni, servicing as President and participated on a committee to better the schools athletic department.
Survivors includes his wife Linda Boyer Stein of 46 years, brothers Jack Stein (Brenda); Steven Stein (Gayle); daughters Julie Moore (Dirk) children Regan and Reese of Lakeway; Sophia Gilmore (Brice) children Rowan and Peyton of Cedar Park. Preceded in death were both parents.
Pall Bearers are Dirk Moore, Brice Gilmore, Jack Stein, Keith McMahan, Joe Fisher, and Gary Shadwell. Honorary Pall bearers are Frank Hale and John Damian. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
