Kathy was born in Wichita, KS on January 29th, 1955 to the late Greta Denise Prigmore Branson and David Andrew Branson.
Graduate of Texas Women's University with a bachelor's degree of science in Nursing, her nursing career spanned over 30 years. Kathy was a breast cancer survivor.
Katherine was married to her beloved husband Sammy Ray McLure on June 15, 1989 in Freeport, TX. They are long time active members of Angleton Road Church of Christ. Their passion together was their Harley Davidson Motorcycle rides exploring the beautiful USA. Their son, James, began riding in the side car with them on many trips and eventually began riding alongside them on a motorcycle of his own.
As a couture-level seamstress, under the name of ''The Kneadle Fairie,'' she blessed family, friends and loved ones with her beautiful creations. From designing and creating her own wedding dress, stunning baby quilts, handmade Halloween costumes, and customizing any item, she was most comfortable behind her beloved sewing machine. She created wonderful keepsakes for her grandbabies, exquisite heirloom wedding quilts for many and custom prom dresses. All who knew her, were blessed with a beautiful handmade item of love.
As a gifted storyteller, she loved reminiscing of childhood memories, her love of baseball and fishing with an old cane pole. Baseball was dear to her; she loved the Astros. She adored watching her youngest grandson, Jameson, play baseball the last year.
Kathy was passionate about the color purple, chocolate, and making others feel loved. She loved creating anything beautiful and yummy! Her son's favorite treat was her famous German Chocolate cake.
She is survived by her endearing husband Sammy Ray McLure of Richwood, TX; her faithful son, James McLure, his wife, Chelsea and her three beautiful grandbabies, Evelynn (8), Jameson (6) and Winifred (2) of Angleton, TX; her loving stepdaughter, Monica Powell, her husband, Luke and son, Lee of Brazoria, TX; and her loving sister-in-law, Sheila Gillibrand and her husband, Tom of Deer Lodge, MT. Also surviving Kathy, are her 5 sisters, Terrye Branson, Debra Turner, Elizabeth Estell, Faith Brown, and Cynthia Comins.
Katherine Ann left her beautiful legacy. She will be greatly missed this side of heaven. Her memory lives on through the color purple, her beautiful quilts, bluebonnets and her family
''I love the Lord because he hears my voice
and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!
Death wrapped its ropes around me;
the terrors of the grave overtook me.
I saw only trouble and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
''Please, Lord, save me!''
How kind the Lord is!
How good he is!
So merciful, this God of ours!
The Lord protects those of childlike faith;
I was facing death, and he saved me.
Let my soul be at rest again,
for the Lord has been good to me.
He has saved me from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
The Lord cares deeply when his loved ones die.
Psalms 116:1-8,15

So very saddened to hear of your loss. I only had the privilege of meeting Kathy during the flood claim after Harvey. But enjoyed having the opportunity to know her. My prayers for your peace of heart. Kathi
