Larry Donnis Tomlin

October 26, 1947 - March 11, 2025

Larry Donnis Tomlin, 77, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones. ''Paw Paw'', as his eight grandkids knew him, was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather with a quick laugh and ready smile. He shared his life with the love of his life, Judy Kay, for 30 years.

Donnis had a 31-year career with the United States Post Office as postmaster for Alvin, Angleton, Bacliff, and Clute. He leaves his family with many happy memories of hunting, fishing, bowling, BBQ cookoffs, and the occasional casino trip.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Kay; children Patricia (Aaron) Gant, Larry (Sherry) Tomlin, and Shelly Dodson (who was his co-caretaker in his final months); grandchildren Jaycob (Ashley) Merritt, Kaytie Merritt, Destin Duke, Ashley (Ethan) Burch, Amy Dodson, Aaron Dodson, Taylor Argento, Anthony Argento, and Daniel Argento and five great grandchildren. He is survived by brothers Eddie Forbes and Doyce Tomlin. He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Virginia Tomlin, sisters Joyce Bownds and Edna Mae Forbes, brothers Elroy Forbes, Ted Tomlin, and Roy Tomlin, daughters Bridgett Tomlin and Lauren Argento and granddaughters Lori and Hollie Tomlin.

A special thank you to Donnis' brother-in-law, Butch Kay and sister-in-law, Ann Kay, for all their care and love, the Choice Hospice nurses and aide Dana, Sarah and Tish, who showed compassion and loving care in his final days and to Shelley, his dialysis nurse.

There will be a private graveside memorial later for family and close friends at Old Columbia Cemetery in West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St Mary's Episcopal Church, West Columbia, Columbia Heritage Foundation, West Columbia, A Place for Grace, West Columbia, or Columbia Christian Senior Citizens' Center, West Columbia.
