Doris Jean Tavenner Heddlesten
Age 92, of Lake Jackson, TX

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Doris Jean Tavenner Heddlesten, age 92, of Lake Jackson, Texas. Doris, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully left this world on March 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.
Doris was born on June 8, 1932, and made Lake Jackson her home in 1952, where she spent the majority of her life. She was a woman of great strength, compassion, and grace, always putting others before herself. Her loving heart touched so many, and her kindness was felt by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Tavenner, her oldest son, Michael Tavenner, and her second husband, Frank Heddlesten. Though her heart ached with the loss of these loved ones, she carried their memories with her always, and their spirits will forever remain in her heart.

Doris leaves behind her devoted children: Cathy Kirkpatrick and Charles Lynn Tavenner; her treasured grandsons: Michael Tavenner, Mitchell Tavenner, and Charleston Henroid; and her beloved granddaughter, Cherise Melancon. She was also a proud great-grandmother to many, whose lives she filled with joy, laughter, and an immeasurable amount of love.

A visitation to celebrate Doris's life and share stories of her incredible journey will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, March 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM, also at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Brother Gary Thornton will officiate the service, and Doris will be laid to rest in a ceremony immediately following the service.

The family invites all who knew Doris to join them in honoring her memory during this difficult time.

Doris was the heart and soul of her family, and her passing leaves an irreplaceable void. However, we take comfort in knowing that her love and wisdom will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. Doris may no longer be with us in body, but her spirit will forever be present in the hearts of those who loved her.

We will carry her memory with us always, remembering her for her unwavering love, warmth, and the example she set of how to live with grace and kindness. May she rest in peace, reunited with those she held dear, and may her legacy continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
