Edith Ruth Rouse Richardson, age 89, of Medina, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 22, 2025, and joyfully embraced her eternal reunion with Jesus.

Born on August 1, 1935, in Freeport, Texas, she was the daughter of William Mitchell Rouse and Pearl Ruth Gilliam Rouse, both of whom preceded her in death. As the eldest of four siblings, she cherished her family, including her late siblings Edna Pearl Rouse Cadenhead and Bobby Wayne Rouse. Her sister, Lois Rouse Glover, continues to reside in Lake Jackson, Texas.

In 1957, Edith married Vernon Albert (V.A.) Richardson, and together they shared 59 wonderful years in Richwood until V.A.'s passing in 2016. Their union was blessed with two children: Duuna Ruth Richardson Hickner and Vernon Albert (Bert) Richardson III, who sadly passed away in 2019.

Edith was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Andrew and Duuna Hickner's children - Hayden Hickner, Hayley Hickner Wade, and Hannah Hickner - and Bert and Bridgette Richardson's children - Brittany Richardson Riggs, Bailey Richardson Ellis, Braden Richardson, and Bert and Amy Richardson's son Jace Richardson. Edith was also a beloved great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.

A dedicated educator, Edith taught Special Education at Brazosview in Freeport and Angleton, Texas, until her retirement in 1994. Her passion for teaching extended to her role at the First Baptist Church of Richwood, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, impacting countless children and guiding them toward a relationship with Jesus.

Edith's contributions to her community were invaluable, and she was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her spirit will be profoundly missed by many. May God bless her on her journey home.

I taught with this beautiful lady at Brazoview School in Freeport. She was the kindest, most gracious person who always could see the good in others. While it has been many years since I saw her, the memories remain. She was truly a lady of faith and showed her love to all she encountered. Rest in peace, my sweet friend.
