David Louis Rieschick, 77, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on April 3, 2025. He was born on December 6, 1947, in Falls City, Nebraska, to Melvin and Mildred Rieschick.

David grew up on a farm in Nebraska alongside his parents and siblings, where he learned valuable life lessons, discipline, and a strong work ethic that would shape his character throughout his life. He loved playing football in high school, where he displayed his tough physicality, grit, and determination - qualities that remained with him always and were especially evident in his courageous defeat of cancer, which he was first diagnosed with in 1965.

He married Pamela Sue Vaughn of Salem, Nebraska, in 1970, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual support. In 1975, David established a new home and life with Sue in Freeport, Texas, before eventually settling in Lake Jackson in 1981, where they would raise their family and build lasting friendships.

After his move to Texas, David began a career as a contractor in the chemical plants. His drive and determination led him to earn an associate's degree in piping design, and he later retired as a piping designer in 2012.

Following his retirement, David spent much of his time doing what he loved - hunting, traveling back to Nebraska to visit family and lifelong friends, and seeing his grandchildren in many different locations. He was his grandkids' biggest fan, always interested in their growth and keeping up with their sports - whether cheering them on in person or watching via livestream from home. He also enjoyed fixing and building things around the house and was always willing to lend a hand to others with their projects.

David enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, and fast cars. He also enjoyed spending time as a homegrown chef, mastering his skills in grilling, barbecuing, as well as in the kitchen - meals that were thoroughly enjoyed by all friends and family. He was also a big fan of Nebraska football, faithfully watching and cheering on the Huskers every game day.

David always had a great sense of humor, a kind heart, and was full of endless knowledge - offering random facts, practical life skills, geography, history, and so much more to anyone who would listen. His presence was comforting, his stories were unforgettable, and his wisdom will be carried on through the many lives he touched.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; his daughter, Melissa, (Brent); his son, Jeremy, (Giselle); his grandchildren, Sierra, Ansley, and Jacob; his sister, Diana Vogt, (Carl), of Camdenton, Missouri; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Rieschick, of Falls City, Nebraska. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mildred Rieschick; his brother, Dennis Rieschick; and his daughter, Kristina.

He passes along a great legacy that will be lived through his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on April 19th, 2025 at Steele Cemetery in Falls City, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Christ Lutheran Church at 86 Plantation

Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas, 77566, or to Texas Hunters for Heroes, South Texas, at TexasHuntersForHeroesSouthTexas.org, or a charity of their choice.
